Royal Checkers™
Regular checkers on a 14 × 8 spherical board.
Checkers has entertained generations of players. Royal Checkers brings that timeless strategy game onto a spherical playing surface — a new visual and spatial dimension built on the same rules you already know.
Players must think strategically, anticipate their opponent's movements, and adapt to the curved layout. The excitement of traditional checkers, preserved. The playing field, entirely different.
The board
Play on the 14 × 8 spherical board. The board wraps around a sphere: pieces that leave one edge of the long dimension re-enter at the opposite edge. Standard checkers squares and standard checkers pieces.
The rules
The rules of regular checkers apply. Setup, movement, mandatory captures, kinging and win conditions are all unchanged from the traditional game — the only difference is the surface the pieces move across.
Variation · Stacked king returns home
After a player becomes a king and is stacked, that stacked king may travel all the way back to its home row. Once it reaches home, the player has the option to split the stack into two separate kings — restoring a second active piece to the board.
Variation · Kings Face Off
A game-type variation. Every checker starts as a king, and every king starts double-stacked. Players begin on equal footing with their most powerful pieces already in play — a faster, higher-tension match from the opening move.
Movement across the sphere's seam
The exact squares that connect at the sphere's seam, and whether multi-jumps may cross it mid-combo, are being finalised by the owner. We will publish the specific adjacency map once it is approved.
